Let’s face it, there are times when there is so much going on you’ve found yourself overloaded – whether it be from a barrage of activities involving your kid(s), a bunch of interesting messages and/or emails, or places to be often with times attached…you get the picture. Couple those with a God-led purpose and personal ambitions to listen to that calling…now there’s an urgency…you are starting to feel a bit dizzy because you are being called to a purpose bigger than what you think you can handle… you are inundated! I can say I can relate! As we face this inundation…let’s not allow it to hold you back or burn you out. The object is to find balance as you work your way to being present with it all including God’s purpose!
There are choices! The choices are:
- to let “this” intimidate you & hold you back, OR
- to persevere through it and give God the glory.
Pressing pause
Before we proceed, it’s personal inventory time.
As the activities of life heat up, do you tend to shut down wanting to call it quits (leaving you to go through the motions with a grumbling attitude) OR do you choose to embrace the season with a smile on your face and take in the events as they come? Hint: the busyness will slow at some point.
Either way, it’s gonna get messy! Accept it! Be grateful! Trust God!
Warning
If you choose to shut down and grumble, this message is NOT for you so you can stop now.
Still here?
Awesome! This is an opportunity to step into a life where blessings abound!
The key is to put your head in the game with a forward focus, while being present the best you can, living your best life moment by moment allowing yourself to be responsive instead of reactionary.
For Starters
First, give yourself credit…no actually thank Jesus for where ever you find yourself currently.
Second, with your focus remaining on Him, give yourself permission to rest and gather your strength in His presence.
After some calmness occurs, do the best you can to acknowledge your need for Jesus while you reflect on Psalm 107:29 and collect your thoughts.
In that window of calm, after acknowledging that it was Jesus who calmed the storm, a sneak attack of self-doubt may creep in. It could look something like: “Oh Gosh, did I act a fool? Say something misleading/inappropriate?” This has happened to me, and that leaks in to a moment of insecurity – which does not feel too good. Instead of sitting in that “possibility” and allowing a wave of regret to become consuming, let 2 Timothy 1:7 be a course corrector (so to speak).
Instead, let that window of calm be an opportunity to sit and re-compose yourself, and adjust your courage.
Why?
Whatever mess you think you’ve made, you are learning to trust and obey (song link) in the stillness. He will use your “mess” for a message. And soon you will be able to say confidently…”I trust you Lord” while stomping on Satan’s attempt to make you feel as if you have failed yet again. Because you haven’t…you are learning how to not let the initial inundation get the best of you!
Congratulations, my friend, you’ve found a way to get through a trial (even though it may not have felt like was one).
However, we can come back to this in a bit.
Now you and I can get back to what is most desired, a better balance to our lives so we can live fully into the purpose God has for us. After all, hunkering down and waiting for whatever “this” is to pass is likely that blessings will be missed & we don’t want that.

Until next time.
Have a great rest of your day.
